2024-2025  ✦  Product Design

The goal of this project was ideating, designing, and refine the ability for users to record, transcribe, and analyze their meetings with Embra.

This project follows the development of Embra's defining product differentiator, the AI-powered graph database that works like a smart CRM. Through months of iteration, we designed and developed an interconnected database to connect customer relationships, interactions, and business data in a dynamic network.

The problem

Sales professionals often face challenges when it comes to managing the process around meetings and email. This can make it difficult for them to effectively navigate sales conversations and followups, resulting in potential loss of important details and ultimately impacting their ability to close deals successfully.

To mitigate these challenges, we designed Embra as an all-in-one platform in which sales professionals could record and transcribe their meetings, receive high level summaries, conduct more in depth analysis, share their learnings with their team, and export the generated content to other applications.

Applying user needs to our product development

Informed by continuous user interviews with sales professionals, our team learned the following:

  • Users wanted notes that were custom to their industry.
  • Primary concern is to use the output of a meeting to generate other content.
    • Coaching insights
    • Key takeaways
    • Next steps
    • Email drafts
  • Users were interested in the ability to share meeting notes with their team members in an easily digestible way.
  • Important for a new product to seamlessly integrate with other applications.

User stories → user flows

Leveraging insights from sales discovery calls, we crafted user stories that captured the needs and pain points of both current and potential customers.

By grouping these stories and developing user flows, we identified gaps in Embra that needed to be addressed to solve our users' problems effectively. This user-centric approach allowed us to focus on delivering a seamless and intuitive solution that met the requirements of our target audience.

New design components

To accomplish this project, we needed to create new custom components for the application to accommodate the new functionality.

1. Enhanced navigation

Introduction of new sidebar navigation items, the toolbar, and breadcrumbs allows for easier navigation across embedded pages.

2. Data tables

A CRM data table organizes customer information into structured rows and columns, making it easy to view, edit, and manage interactions. Interactive cells, like dropdowns for status updates, inline editing, and conditional formatting, help teams quickly access insights, streamline workflows, and prioritize key actions.

3. Chips and badges

Chips and badges act as interactive elements that represent filterable or navigable objects, such as tags, people, companies, etc. They enhance usability by allowing quick actions, filtering, or drill-down navigation while keeping the UI clean and scannable.
